| Master Hsu-Yun (Xuyun), commonly known as Empty Cloud in the West, was widely acknowledged as the greatest Chan master in the 20th century. He attained great awakening in 1896, at the age of 56. After that, for more than 60 years, he worked ceaseless to rejevenate Chan Buddhism in China. He lived from 1840 to 1959. This site contains teachings and biographical information about the master.
